While Everyone Watched the Gala, She Was Sharing the Gospel

If you ask singer Bithja what prompted her to begin songwriting and singing, she would quickly tell you “God.” Plain and simple.

Years ago, Bithja had the opportunity to sing one of her original songs at a church young-adult retreat, and the response she received from her fellow believers convicted her. At that time, it was very clear that God was saying, “See those songs I’ve given you? They’re not just for you. They’re for other people.”

And so, after much convincing from her community, Bithja began to take the idea seriously. 

With her favorite verse, “To whom much is given, much is required” Luke 12:48, guiding her steps, she began to write, sing, and record. This verse reminded her to do everything she can with the gifts God has given her. The scripture from Luke continues to motivate her as she moves forward in her music career. 

Bithja’s purpose keeps her deeply grounded. She believes God’s will for her life is to use everything He’s given to proclaim His goodness and mercy to the world. Bithja desires to know Him and make Him known. Music is one way she does that, and that’s her “why.” 

On May 1, 2026, Bithja released her debut album “Heaven’s Call.” In addition to a release event in Brooklyn, she had the idea to promote her project outside NYC’s biggest fashion event, The Met Gala. 

After learning that the Met Gala was taking place on the Monday following her album release, Bitjha reflected on her love of fashion as a form of creative expression. 

“I have watched the Met Gala and rated the outfits with friends for fun in previous years,” said Bithja. “I thought about my desire to share my music with people, and God placed the idea in my mind to set up a station in a space where hundreds of people would be walking by. Whether they were attendees of the Met Gala or onlookers hoping to catch a glimpse of someone notable, I wanted to share a message of the hope we have in Jesus through my music.”

So she did just that. 

Bithja, with a friend, camped out on an NYC sidewalk corner near the Met Museum, the home of the annual event. Everyone from fashion-savvy figures to everyday passersby filtered through. Her music was blasted from a Bluetooth speaker, and cards were handed out explaining the Gospel message and the intent behind her new album, “Heaven’s Call.”

It was a humbling experience for her, as Bithja felt like a real-life personification of what the disciples likely felt when sharing the Gospel. Some people walked straight by, as New Yorkers do. Some people stopped to ask what they were doing out there and even shared their ongoing searches for purpose in life. Bithja and her friend prayed with people, shared smiles, and most importantly, invited them to something greater than a one-night experience at the Met Gala: an eternity of peace through answering “Heaven’s Call.”

The album is a reminder that above every trend, every opinion, and every ambition, there is a greater invitation waiting to be answered: the call of God. More than an album, “Heaven’s Call” explores what it means to hear God’s voice in everyday moments, through identity, healing, confidence, love, purpose, and surrender. Each song reflects a different part of the journey: surrendering your way of doing things, learning who you are, inviting God into your life, walking in faith, making room for God to speak, loving and serving others, and awaiting the promises yet to come.

For Bithja, this grassroots promotion experience was the best outcome of her album release. 

This project has been in the works for years, with the recording of new songs beginning towards the end of last year. Most of the music on the album was written years ago, with a guitar, alone in her room, not knowing if she would ever release them into the world. 

A businesswoman turned music artist is not something she ever thought she’d be. She prefers to be under the radar with no desire for the spotlight. What Bithja desires is to obey God's call. Her music also reflects her decision to answer God’s call in her own life and to live a life of faith, out loud, for the world to see. It’s a journey she is encouraging listeners to take with her. 

It’s been a deep desire of Bithja’s to share the Gospel in nontraditional spaces, and her music reflects that. Using music with a mainstream R&B/pop feel that conveys messages of hope, love, and surrender is something she has enjoyed since she first sang her own song at that young-adult retreat years ago. 

“We’re so distracted today… mostly by technology and everything going on in the world around us. “Heaven’s Call” is a reminder of the invitation that continues to exist for all of us. In a world full of noise, distractions, and opinions, there’s still a voice that calls us back to who we were created to be — the voice of God.” - Bithja
